Verizon is Doing Away with Unlimited Date Plan

Folks, say goodbye to Verizon’s unlimited data plan. On July 7, 2011, anyone switch their plan over to Verizon Cellular will not have the option of choosing an unlimited data plan.
Verizon has been publicly alluding to this fact for several months now. Now, at least, we have a date for that to happen. Now, the Internet forums and chat sites have been bombarded with questions about what will happen to existing customers who have a plan with unlimited data. This sort of thing has happened before, so you had better be careful with renewals and upgrades to your Verizon cellular service. Just ask the AT&T customers around your area.

If you really want to get some good information on what to do with an existing cellular plan from Verizon, that contains an Unlimited Data Plan, you may want to check out this article from Maggie Reardon at CNet.com.

Maggie raises a good point in her article, though. Do you really have to have an unlimited data plan? Maybe I am old fashion, but I don’t push the extent of my data plan very often. The iPhone gets a fair bit done on a small plan, and I am still quite happy with the laptop or WiFi enabled tablet.

What do you think? I would invite you to get a chain of discussion started on this subject here. Post a comment mate.
